Old Fashion Sour Cream Pound Cake

 

What You'll Need

 

  • 2 1/2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

 

How to Make It

 

1. Prep the Pan:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
  • Lightly oil and flour your baking pan.

 

2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:

  • Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

 

3. Add the Wet Ingredients:

  • Add sour cream and mix to incorporate.
  • Add lemon zest if using.
  • Add eggs one at a time mixing just until incorporated.
  • Add vanilla extract.

 

4. Add the Dry Ingredients:

  • Combine flour, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Add to the wet mixture and mix gently by hand just until combined.

 

5. Bake:

  • Bake in a 375 degree fahrenheit oven for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
