Old Fashion Sour Cream Pound Cake
What You'll Need
- 2 1/2 cups self rising flour
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
- 2 cups sugar
- Zest of one lemon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 6 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
How to Make It
1. Prep the Pan:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
- Lightly oil and flour your baking pan.
2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
- Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Add the Wet Ingredients:
- Add sour cream and mix to incorporate.
- Add lemon zest if using.
- Add eggs one at a time mixing just until incorporated.
- Add vanilla extract.
4. Add the Dry Ingredients:
- Combine flour, baking soda and baking powder.
- Add to the wet mixture and mix gently by hand just until combined.
5. Bake:
- Bake in a 375 degree fahrenheit oven for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
