Rich & Savory Caramelized Onion Gravy (No Flour Needed!)
What You'll Need
- 4 large yellow onions, sliced thin
- A pinch of baking soda
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet
- 2–3 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons Macadamia Nut Oil
How to Make It
1. Cook the Onions:
- Heat Macadamia nut oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until they start to soften.
- Add a pinch of baking soda and mix well to combine.
- Add garlic cloves and continue cooking until onions are golden brown and caramelized.
2. Build the Broth:
- Remove onions from the skillet and add the chicken broth.
- Heat for 2–3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
- Pour the broth into a bowl or measuring cup and set aside.
3. Blend It Smooth:
- Add the caramelized onions, black pepper, Kitchen Bouquet, and 1/4 of the broth to a blender.
- Blend on high, adding more broth a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Pour into a serving dish and ENJOY!
