Rich & Savory Caramelized Onion Gravy (No Flour Needed!)

What You'll Need

  • 4 large yellow onions, sliced thin
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon Kitchen Bouquet
  • 2–3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Macadamia Nut Oil

How to Make It

1. Cook the Onions:

  • Heat Macadamia nut oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  • Add sliced onions and cook until they start to soften.
  • Add a pinch of baking soda and mix well to combine.
  • Add garlic cloves and continue cooking until onions are golden brown and caramelized.

2. Build the Broth:

  • Remove onions from the skillet and add the chicken broth.
  • Heat for 2–3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  • Pour the broth into a bowl or measuring cup and set aside.

3. Blend It Smooth:

  • Add the caramelized onions, black pepper, Kitchen Bouquet, and 1/4 of the broth to a blender.
  • Blend on high, adding more broth a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Pour into a serving dish and ENJOY!
