Holiday Survival Food! Quick Navy Bean & Ham Stew for Busy In-Between Days 🤯
What You'll Need
- 1 (15 oz) can Navy Beans or beans of your choice
- 2 tablespoons Macadamia Nut Oil
- 1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1–2 bay leaves
- 1/2 tablespoon celery seed or 1/4 cup celery, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Pam's Prep All Purpose Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup cooked chopped ham or protein of choice (optional)
- 1 cup spinach or leafy greens of your choice
How to Make It
1. Sauté the Base:
- In a heavy bottom skillet, heat macadamia nut oil over medium heat.
- Add carrots, onion, and garlic and sauté until slightly tender, about 4 minutes.
2. Build the Stew:
- Add tomato sauce, navy beans (with liquid), chicken broth, celery or celery seeds, and Pam’s Prep All Purpose Seasoning.
- Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
3. Simmer:
- Reduce heat to medium low and add 1–2 bay leaves.
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
4. Add Protein and Greens:
- After about 8 minutes, stir in the ham or other protein if using.
- Continue simmering for 2 more minutes.
- Add spinach and cook an additional 5 minutes, stirring continuously until wilted.
5. Serve:
- Remove from heat and serve warm. ENJOY!
