Easy Family Lasagna Recipe
What You'll Need
For the Meat Sauce:
- 2 pounds Italian sausage or ground beef
- 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons dried Italian parsley
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons Pam’s Prep Classic Seasoning
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 bottles (24 ounces each) Carbone pasta sauce
Cottage Cheese Mix:
- 8 ounces cottage cheese
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon oregano
Other Ingredients:
- 1 box lasagna noodles
- 24 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 8 ounces Parmesan cheese, shredded
How to Make It
1. Cook the Noodles:
- Bring a large pot about three quarters full of salted water to a boil.
- Add lasagna noodles and cook 5 to 7 minutes or according to package directions.
- Drain and cover with cold water to stop the cooking.
2. Make the Meat Sauce:
- Heat a large Dutch oven over medium high heat.
- Add the sausage and crumble while cooking.
- Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Stir to combine.
- Add tomato paste, herbs, Pam’s Prep seasoning, brown sugar, salt, and pasta sauce.
- Cook until meat is fully done and vegetables are soft.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer about 15 minutes.
3. Prepare the Cheese Mix:
- In a medium bowl combine cottage cheese, egg, and oregano.
- Mix well and set aside.
4. Assemble the Lasagna:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
- Remove sauce from heat.
- Layer noodles, meat sauce, cottage cheese mixture, and shredded cheeses.
- Continue layering according to the method shown in the video.
5. Bake:
- Bake covered for 45 minutes.
- Uncover and continue baking until cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.
- Remove from oven and let rest before serving. ENJOY!
